Bowring Ranch near Merriman is a Hereford demonstration ranch, donated by former U.S. Senator Eve Bowring in memory of her husband. The ranch house displays fine antique china, crystal and silver as well as memorabilia from their active public service careers. The visitor center interprets ranching, homesteading, geology, wildlife and many other areas related to the Sandhills and Bowrings.

Learn about Nebraska's first woman Senator, Eve Bowring. See the living ranch history including the replicated Sod House-vegetable and herb gardening, and other activities. There are various types of fine china, crystal, silver, and antique furniture in the Ranch Home. The Visitor Center contains history of the Nebraska Sandhills and the Bowrings political lives. The annual event of the Bowring Ranch is Sod House Sunday, held the last Sunday in June.See the living history activities at the Sod House Pioneer cooking, vegetable and herb gardening, rug making and other ranch crafts.
