Gulf State Park
Gulf State Park's two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls and sea shells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Inside Gulf State Park there is a championship golf course, new beach pavilion, rental cottages, tennis courts, camp sites, hiking trails, zipline, and a fishing pier that is 20-feet wide and extends 1,512 feet into the Gulf. This and much more make Gulf State Park the perfect in-state vacation or out-of-state adventure.
This is an amazing park for the person who loves being outside rather you bike, hike, walk, jog, run, kayak, or fish you name it it's perfect!! The boardwalks are amazing. The wildlife viewing is wonderful. Will be spending alot of time here. Nature brings out the best in everyone. People on the trail were so helpful and kind. Birders everywhere - eagles osprey and more. Kudos to Alabama for having such a lovely park.
The hike was longer than expected, but only because we took some extra turns. They have nice restrooms, a park for kids, and even an alligator or two! The trail is nice and smooth and loops, so you don't have to walk the same path twice. We had a good time, although if we come back we will probably find a shorter route.
We spent our time on the bike trails. These were great and they provided us with a 30 mile riding experience. We didn't see any alligators but saw three different venomous snakes on the trail. You simply need to be aware when utilizing the trails in the warmer months. They were not aggressive and we simply moved the snakes off the trail with a long stick. They have cabins on the water and inland , a large campground, primitive camping and more. There are many things to do at this State Park.
One of my favorite campgrounds! The sunsets are beautiful, the walking paths are amazing, and the pool is almost resort-like quality. Our camping spot was a little tight for our 40ft class A and we didn't have much room at all to park our towed pickup, but we made it work. The bugs were terrible when we were there, but that's not the parks fault! Lovely Campground that we will certainly return to.
Love that all the camp sites are nicely spread out (not crammed next to each other). The walking and biking trails are numerous and beautiful. Great place for a family to get back to nature.
