Along the rolling, wooded shoreline of the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Reservoir, sits Hickory Knob, a full-service, lakeside South Carolina golf resort and remote state park all rolled into one.

Tucked away in a serene, remote location, the parks many amenities and recreational opportunities are a pleasant surprise for many. Hickory Knob operates an 18-hole championship golf course, full-service restaurant, skeet shooting, boat ramp, archery range, meeting facilities and more than 70 lodge-style rooms. This South Carolina golf resort is an ideal location for a family getaway, reunion or a business meeting or retreat.

For those seeking a more outdoorsy stay at the park, a campground is available on the banks of the Strom Thurmond Reservoir, as well as one of the area’s most popular biking trails.

Don’t forget to explore the other South Carolina parks! You’ll find wet and wild fun at Lake Jocassee in Devils Fork State Park or at a lakefront camping site in Hamilton Branch State Park.

Fishing Information: Enjoy fishing in Strom Thurmond Lake for several species of bass, hybrid, crappie, perch and stripers.

Boating and Boat Access: A boat ramp provides private boat access to Strom Thurmond Lake. An admission applies to the boat ramp area for day-use visitors, overnight guest may use the boat ramp at no charge. Boat docks are available for overnight guests on a first-come, first-served basis.

Canoe/Kayak Rentals: Kayaks & the Canoe rent for $7/hour, $9/4 hours or $14/day.

Playground: One children's playground is provided in the lodge area. The park also has a basketball court, volleyball court, horsehoe pit, tether ball and ladder ball for park guests. There is also a putting green area near the restaurant. Equipment to use these facilities is available for check out at the front desk.

Swimming: Swimming is permitted in Lake Thurmond. Park visitors may swim at their own risk. Lake access for swimming is limited.

Swimming Pool: A pool is available for cabin and lodge guests.

Archery: Archery is available by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.
$10 per person includes 30 minutes of instruction with equipment provided by the park. $5 per person includes 30 minutes of instruction, and you provide your own equipment. Ages seven and up may participate. Please contact the park for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Skeet Shooting: Skeet shooting is available by appointment only for ages 13 and up. Groups of five or more must make an appointment no less than one week in advance. A $20 deposit is required when appointments are made.
$27.50 per round includes - 25 clay pigeons, park provides gun and ammo.
$20 per round - 25 clay pigeons, visitor provides gun and ammo.

Hiking Trails: The challenging bike/hiking trail which is approximately 12 miles in length, travels through a pine forest, along the lake's edge providing opportunities for many scenic lake views. The trails consist of: Beaver Run Trail (2.5 miles), Lakeview Loop (7.2 miles) and Turkey Ridge Trail (1.7 miles)

CAMPING

Camping Information: Enjoy camping along the shores of Strom Thurmond Lake. Each site is packed gravel and has individual water and electrical hookups and picnic table.

The campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. All sites accommodate RV's up to 30 feet, 21 which are waterfront.
