Long Branch State Park’s three boat ramps provide access to sprawling and picturesque Long Branch Lake. Want to get some fishing in? The park offers some of the best bass fishing in northern Missouri and its swimming beach a is a favorite for families. More than 80 campsites make the park a perfect place for overnight stays. And the park’s native prairie offers peaceful hiking opportunities.

Looking for a place to get a watersports fix? Long Branch State Park’s three boat ramps provide access to sprawling and picturesque Long Branch Lake. For more fun on the water, fishing is popular and the marina store, swimming beach and day-use area next to the beach are a favorite for families. A modern campground the park is a perfect place for overnight stays. The park preserves some of the last savanna and prairie remnants in the Chariton River Hills. Trails through the Chariton River Hills Natural Area provide a good way for hikers to see colorful prairie wildflowers and a variety of birds, including red-headed woodpeckers, brown thrashers and indigo buntings.

Fishing

Long Branch Lake has an excellent reputation for bass fishing, but you can cast your lines for catfish, walleye and crappie as well. The lake's 24 miles of shoreline have many small coves that offer good fishing. A partially covered accessible fishing dock is located near the beach. Statewide fishing regulations apply. The length limits for bass are 15" or longer and for walleye 18" or longer.

Boating

Access Long Branch Lake via one of three paved boat launches located at different points on the lake. There are no launch fees or horsepower restrictions for boats on the lake.

Swimming

Swimmers can access the lake at the sand beach, complete with a volleyball net. There is no lifeguard on duty so swimming is at your own risk. A changehouse facility is located near the beach, which is located near the campground.

Camping

Long Branch State Park offers basic and electric campsites and a special-use camping area. There are also several walk-in basic campsites available. For a little extra space, try one of the park's family campsites.<

Picnic Areas

Find a quiet spot for lunch and a scenic view at one of the picnic sites scattered under trees and along the lake.

PICNIC SHELTERS
Reserve one of two open picnic shelters for $40 per day. Each shelter can accommodate approximately 60 people. If not reserved, the shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Both shelters are equipped with electricity, picnic tables, an outdoor grill and restroom facilities nearby. The South Shelter is accessible and has a playground nearby.

PLAYGROUNDS
Playground 1 is located at the South Shelter and Playground 2 is in the campground.
