Wakonda State Park

Wakonda State Park
32836 State Park Road

The clear water of Wakonda State Park's six lakes attract thousands of migratory waterfowl each year, making the park a bird lover’s paradise. The lakes also offer anglers a chance to catch largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Two of the lakes have boat ramps, making it even easier to get into the water. A swimming beach provides a great place to cool off, and campsites make the park a perfect place to stay for awhile.

Camping

Wakonda State Park offers basic, electric and sewer/electric/water campsites.

To make a reservation or view campsite details, photos and availability, go to the reservation website by clicking the “Make a Reservation Now” link below. Reservations may also be made by calling toll free 877-ICampMO (877-422-6766).

Fishing

Six lakes provide plenty of opportunities for you to cast your line for largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill and catfish. Agate, Jasper, Quartz and Wakonda lakes are the most popular among fisherman.

Swimming

Sand from the quarries helped to create the state park system's largest natural sand swimming beach along Wakonda Lake. The 20,000-square-foot beach offers plenty of room to lounge in the sun or get in a game of sand volleyball. There is no lifeguard on duty, so swimming is at your own risk. There is a showerhouse and restroom facility located at the beach for your convenience.

Boating

You can launch your boat on the concrete boat launches at Wakonda and Agate lakes. There are no boat launch fees at the park. Boat motors must be operated at idle speed on Wakonda and Agate lakes. (This regulation is strictly enforced). Jasper, Quartz, Granite and Boulder lakes only allow carry-in boats with electric motors. There are  water trails on Agate, Jasper and Wakonda lakes.

PICNIC AREA

Located near the beach on Wakonda Lake is an area for picnicking with tables and outdoor grills.

PICNIC SHELTERS
Two picnic shelters, which hold approximately 50 people each, can be reserved for $25 each. They are both accessible to people with disabilities.

Shelter 1 is located in the beach day-use area, has electricity and is near the beach concession stand, where there are restrooms available.
Shelter 2 has electricity and is located on the east side of the Agate Lake parking area near the boat launch. There is a vault toilet nearby.

PLAYGROUND
A playground is located in the picnic area near the Wakonda Lake beach.
