Less than an hour from Kansas City, Wallace State Park is an island of serenity. Visitors can fish or swim in the park's six-acre lake or hike one of four scenic trails with benches along the way for relaxing. Picnic sites that are shaded by trees are scattered throughout and the family-oriented campground includes modern restrooms, hot showers and hot water.

Camping

The park's peaceful, family-oriented campgrounds include both basic and electric campsites. Walk-in campsites are available for those seeking more seclusion. There is also a special-use camping area. Playground equipment is located near Campgrounds 2 and 4.

Fishing

Cast your line from the shore of six-acre Lake Allaman. The lake is not stocked. Night fishing is not allowed.

Picnic Area

You will find an excellent place to enjoy lunch at one of the picnic sites scattered throughout the wooded area of the park and near the lake.

PICNIC SHELTERS
For large family gatherings, you can rent one of the park's shelters.

The open picnic shelter overlooks the lake and can accommodate 75 people. It has a group grill, two electrical outlets and a water fountain nearby. A vault toilet is nearby. This area is not accessible to people with disabilities due to slopes. The open shelter may be reserved for $40 a day, or if not reserved, the open shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

PLAYGROUND

A playground is located in the picnic area.

Play a friendly game of horseshoes! Horseshoe equipment is available for checkout at the park office. There are horseshoe pits at both picnic shelters.

Boating

Small boats and electric motors are permitted on lake Allaman. There are no boat ramps.
